That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our commitment to donating 5% of all profits to Mission 22, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans and their families.
Our Mission and Values
Our mission is rooted in five core values: integrity, service, excellence, innovation, and community. We uphold the highest standards of honesty and ethics in all our interactions, serve our community with the same commitment and honor as our founder’s military service, continuously pursue excellence in every service we offer, stay ahead of the curve with the latest technology trends and solutions, and build strong, supportive relationships with our clients and the local business community.
Supporting Mission 22
Mission 22 is dedicated to combating the ever-rising veteran suicide rate. They accomplish this through three major programs: veteran treatment programs, memorials, and national awareness. By donating 5% of our profits to Mission 22, we hope to support these vital programs and make a difference in the lives of veterans and their families. Their mission resonates deeply with our own commitment to service and community, and we are proud to contribute to their cause.
Discounts for Our Clients
In addition to our donations, we are excited to offer a 5% discount to all first-time business clients on their initial project with us. Furthermore, we are offering a perpetual 5% discount to veteran-owned businesses as a token of our appreciation for their service and sacrifice. We believe that by supporting veteran-owned businesses, we can help strengthen our community and build a network of support for those who have served.
My Journey from Marine to IT Professional
Now, let me share a bit about myself. My name is Jordan Foley, and I have a background that’s a little different from your average IT professional. I served in the United States Marine Corps, and it was one of the best decisions of my life, even if it didn’t start exactly how I planned.
I originally signed up to be a programmer, but quickly found out that there was no such position in the Marines at that time. My recruiter, bless his heart, wasn’t quite up to speed on the intricacies of the tech world. So, instead of programming, I became a network administrator. It turns out, I was pretty good at it. I learned the ins and outs of routing and switching, making things communicate together, ensuring connectivity – all crucial skills in the IT world.
From Network Admin to Cyber Security Specialist
My first duty station was Quantico, Virginia, where I worked for the Marine Corps Network Operations and Security Center (MCNOSC).
Here, I got a taste of cyber security, working with the Marine Computer Emergency Response Team (MARCERT) to monitor network traffic for intrusions. I even helped catch one of the biggest security breaches in the Marine Corps at the time. Not bad for a guy who just wanted to code!
After Quantico, I was stationed with the Second Battalion, 5th Marines at Camp Pendleton, California. Here, I quickly learned that being a Network Administrator also meant being a Systems Administrator. During my first deployment, I performed my first domain controller demotion, build, and promotion. This is where I truly became a well-rounded IT professional, capable of handling anything thrown my way.
Civilian Life and Continuous Learning
After five years of service, I reenlisted as a Cyber Security Specialist, diving deeper into the world of ethical hacking, reading packets, and understanding attack vectors. But after two more years, I decided to transition to civilian life. My first civilian job was with AT&T, installing U-Verse in people’s homes. It wasn’t quite what I imagined, but it gave me a chance to use my networking skills and help people get their internet and TV working perfectly.
From there, I moved to an engineering firm in Milwaukee, where I worked as a Network Administrator for four years. I also started programming on the side, switching from Visual Basic to C# and learning ASP.NET. I created applications to make my IT job easier and even developed small apps for other departments.
The Birth of Patriot Tech Heroes
My side hobby of making video games using C# and Unity 3D pushed my programming skills forward, and eventually, my company offered me a full-time programming position. For the last six years, I’ve been programming and doing small networking and systems tasks on the side. I’ve expanded my knowledge to include React, Node.js, React Native, Expo Go, and Express, among other technologies.
Now, I’m excited to bring all this experience to Patriot Tech Heroes, where we offer a wide range of IT services for businesses, from network setup and optimization to IT consulting, software support, hardware repair, device setup, and custom software and web development.
